02 MayAt MUVO, we’re all about making sustainable choices without compromising on quality. From our packaging to our processes, every little detail is created with the planet in mind. Below is a breakdown of how we’re doing our part—and how you can help out by recycling our bottles!
Size & Shape Matter!
Ever wondered why our bottles are square? Not just for looks—it’s for the planet! Our square bottles are designed to fit perfectly into shipping cartons, reducing breakage and wasted space. Plus, our oversized 500ml retail bottle means less plastic production. Win-win, right? And since you’ll need to reorder less often, together we reduce delivery emissions.
No sachets!
In 2019, we said ‘no’ to sachets. Why? Because they’re a major pollution problem—clogging landfills, rivers and beaches. Instead, we’ve invested in travel-sized bottles for you to refill or recycle. No more guilt, just great hair care on the go!
Tubes → Bottles: The Upgrade You Didn’t Know You Needed
Most tubes aren’t recyclable and even when they are, they present issues and it gets complicated. This is why we decided to transition away from tubes and towards recyclable bottles, starting with our Smooth Leave-In Treatment in 2023 and Rapid 1 Minute Treatment in 2024. By the end of 2025 we anticipate that all MUVO tubes will be out of circulation for good!
Recyclable & Future-Forward Packaging
Our bottles are made from PETG—one of the easiest plastics to recycle (thanks to its low melting point). They’re tough, travel-friendly and 100% recyclable in your regular garbage bin. Our pumps however have a tiny metal spring, so are not recyclable yet. That’s something that we’re working on!
In the meantime, unscrew the pump and:
♻️ Recycle the bottle (easy!)
🗑️ Toss the pump in your garbage bin (or drop it at a TerraCycle point)
Our goal? To do even better and switch to 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic within the next two years AND source a suitable recyclable plastic spring for our pumps. Watch this space!
Sustainability Behind the Scenes
We’re cutting waste at every step:
📦 Shipping? We reuse cartons and recycled filling.
🔋 Warehouse? Electric > petrol forklifts to limit emissions.
🧴Rejected product? Donated to ‘giving’ partner, or to staff (if safe!)
